Mod Edit:  Split from https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/593197/automatic-disk-repair-and-pretty-much-everything-else-wont-work/ - Hamluis.

I am facing a similar issue with error Status: 0Xc0000225  File: \EFI\Microsoft\Boot\BCD. I've tried fixing from instructions from multiple threads with no luck.

  • bootrec /rebuildbcd it comes up with total identified windows installations: 0
  • bcdedit /export c:\backup shows - the store export operation has failed. the requested system device cannot be found.

Ive tried a whole lot of other stuff.. but not having any luck :(

Here is a screenshot of my Diskpart > List volume

I dont see the C: lable as "OS" either rather it says acer.. .does this matter?

If you look at the image you posted you will see a column titled Ltr (as in Letter).  The second item in the list is C, this is your C: drive which contains the operating system.  It appears that the DVD-ROM is the first device in the boot order and the hdd is the second device.  This configuration is usually set in order to boot from a bootable disc.

Does this computer boot into Windows?

If it does do the following.

Press the Windows key windowskey_zps092d5c75.png and the X key at the same time.

In the menu that opens click/tap on Command Prompt (Admin), this will open the Elevated Command Prompt.

When the Elevated Command Prompt opens copy and paste bootrec /rebuildbcd in the Command Prompt, then press Enter.

You will see the following.

Scanning all disks for Windows installations.

This may take a while, please do not stop the scan.

If this was successful you will receive the following message.

Successfully scanned Windows installations.
Total identified Windows installations: 0
The operation completed successfully.
