Even after quitting SKYPE from Task Manager…

Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes + Chrome WOULD NOT UPDATE.

So I shut down the PC (running Win 7 64).

I unplugged the network cable before rebooting.

Before RAM slowed down too much to do anything again, I removed Skype with a “simple uninstall” from Add/Remove programs menu and rebooted.  I was no longer experiencing the RAM problem.

Ran Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes without updating definitions.  (The most recent successful Microsoft update was three days prior to this problem.) Didn’t find anything.

I plugged the network cable back in.  Now I could update definitions again, so I ran deepest scans available with Microsoft Security Essentials + Malwarebytes + SuperAntispyware.  Still didn’t find anything.

I downloaded and installed Avast because it was the only thing I could remember that runs safe mode boot-level scans.  Still didn’t find anything.  Uninstalled Avast.

I downloaded and scanned with Emsisoft.  Still didn’t find anything.

Downloaded Farbar Recovery Scan Tool + MalwareBytes AntiRootkit

Looked over FRST.txt + Addition.txt (attached)

Looked over MBAR CheckResults.txt (attached)

Emsisoft scan was unhelpful (attached)

I’m out of my league here.
