AVI File Gone Missing

Hi, i renamed my AVI file, and after I had renamed it disappeared any idea why? I mind this happened once before, and I had to tick a box or something, but I've forgotten how to do it.

its ok I found my answer.

turn that feature off
control panel
>>folder options
>> view
>>check the hide extensions for known file types
>>then press ok
