Hey guys, I changed the touchpad on this machine and had followed the instructions here to take off the keyboard:

It shows it at the 3.50 mark where he says "lift that latch up" to release the cable, that's what I did but now trying to get the cable to stay in place I am having problems. Any ideas please how to lock that black latch?

See page 40 of the service manual. The latch is hinged and you lift it to remove the cable and rotate it back down after positioning the cable. Hopefully when lifting the latch you didn't remove it,

I had looked at both of those links [thanks] before posting but doesn't help. I've never had trouble with a connector before so this baffles me. No, the latch isn't removed, It moves up and down or rather towards and away from the beige-colored piece the cable slides into, I just can't get it to lock

Try pushing down and in on the cable while locking the clip. See this video at 8:47

The clip in the video is located on the opposite side to this one, as the pic shows, the cable slides in up to the the white line where the top red arrow is pointing but the black clip where the bottom arrow is pointing is the clip which has to lock the cable in place.

Does the clip lock when no cable is present? The only think I can think of is to push the cable in and slowly pull it back until the latch locks. Other than that I don't have any other ideas. I see that blue line on the cable. Does it ever touch the beige plastic piece or that is as far as the cable goes.

No it doesn't lock into place whether cable is in or not, that's what's baffling me so I don;t think this has anything to do with the cable. No the blue line does not actually touch the beige piece, that's as far as it goes and I think is how far it's supposed to go.

John, I got the sucker! Seems I had to push "down" on the clip like pushing it into the mobo and not towards the beige piece.

Glad you got it sorted. So this was straight push down and then rotate? To release the cable you had to pull up and the black clip rotated, correct?

No rotating in any direction, simply push the black latch down to lock and lift up to release the cable.

It's ok, looks like the battery is working. Just one issue, the dvd autoplay doesn't work, any fixes?
