Hi there my system was recently infected with this adware/trojan on friday, KB-Ribaki/Zodiac+Poweliks I managed to remove Poweliks but the adware refuses to be removed.

I've used Farbar with the version 2017-01-15 I have also tried running MB+Hitmanpro i also tried uninstalling and clearing all possible browsers.

Farbar says it found this file but that it requires a fix text/file. HKU\S-1-5-21-3144774058-3468314797-1625910121-1001\...\Run: [Rusty] => explorer.exe hxxp://kb-ribaki.org <===== ATTENTION

The adware did not pop up at start so it seems to have fixed it :)

But there is this CMD window that keeps popping up, could it have anything to do with the files returning?

Nevermind this did not solve the problem as it quickly returned after that CMD window opened for some 1-2 seconds.

Is there anyway to check the CMD history to see what is going on?

The fixlog show that it was remove but apparently not.
Let try this way.

===

Copy the text IN THE QUOTE BOX below to notepad. Save it as fixme.reg to your desktop.
Be sure the "Save as" type is set to "all files" Once you have saved Right click the .reg file and allow it to merge with the registry.

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-7F1343F7-3E64-4B4C-AA7D-F1F453E9CA82\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"Rusty"=-

Restart the computer when completed.

You can delete the fixme.reg file when done.

===

Run the Farbar tool with the Fixlist.txt one more time.

Post the Fixlog.txt and let me know if the problem persists.

It won't let me import the reg file as it says it is not a registry file.

I've noticed that the CMD pop up is random and i'm trying to find if there is any kind of .exe that initiates it.

Update: Came home from work during lunch and checked task scheduler

I found this task in the task scheduler that had the command.

Rusty] => explorer.exe hxxp://kb-ribaki.org

I disabled and deleted it, hopefully this fixed it.

I'll wait 1-2 days and post if it happens again.

If the problem returns create a new .reg file and make sure all these lines are included in the file.
