Dual boot advice , please

Hello-

How can I set up a dual boot (  Windows 2000 PRO /Windows 7 ) on a Windows 7 rig ?

 

Can I boot Windows 2000 PRO from an external drive ?    If so, what type of external drive is recommended ?   USB3  SSD  ?

If your going to setup for that my self i would install the other Os on the extrnal with no other hdd install on the computer, if not it will probly try and mess with the boot loader.
