That game is very CPU bound. Check with Task Manager how high CPU usage is while playing it.

If i were in your position I would look for a 3770k, yes it will work on your mobo. 3770k will handle streaming much better and you should be able to find one at a decent cost (say about $200.00). If it were me I would get the processor first, dial it in with a good cooler at about 4.5 GHZ (you have a board that will easily do that, then sell the I5 2500k (for about $100.00) to partially offset the cost of a 3770k. Provided you can find a 3770k though there are some on ebay just be careful with sellers reputation.

I agree 3770K would be better but I strongly disagree that $200 for such obsolete tech is decent cost. I would pay at most $100.

Could just overclock the cpu he has now, it is a K version after all that is if you have the cooling, bet ya i could get that cpu close to 5000mgz if it were my computer.

Would it be sufficient to overclock it with that cooler?

i would say yes.

Your in luck, i found a review of your Corsair H80i liquid cooler and not only that but with your 2500k !

http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/corsair-h80i-cpu-cooler-review/

It dousen't get better then that and from a quick look at the review id say go for it for the overclock with the H80i , just keep your temps under 65c.

Id turn off the Turbo frequency topic too if you have the cooling.

2nd Generation 32 Nanometer ... 1.35 Vcore
3rd Generation 22 Nanometer ... 1.30 Vcore
