Hello all,

Just wanted to see if anyone could figure out what could cause seemingly random DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION bluescreens I have been getting as of recent.

Well, it's only happened on a monthly basis since November, until today, when it has happened twice in two days, mostly while in a video game. Nothing seems to be overheating at the rare times of the crashes, but it happens. I am sure hoping it isn't any sign of anything terminal, but I would definitely appreciate help!

Here is my PC's basic information.

  • Microsoft Windows 10Professional (x64) Build 14393.693 (RS1)
  • It is an x64 system
  • The original OS installed was Windows 10 Professional (not 10.1)
  • The OS is an OEM version
  • The PC is about 10 months old. The graphics card (ASUS NVIDIA GTX 1080 Turbo) is around 3 months old. The SSD (SanDisk Ultra II 960GB) is about 6 months old, and the newest piece of hardware, a 2TB ST32000644NS HDD, is only a month old.
  • I do not believe the system has been reinstalled or restored, merely cloned when the SSD was upgraded (although the BSODs didn't start at least November). So at least 10 months old.

And the rest of the info!

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-5930k
  • Graphics Card: NVIDIA ASUS GTX 1080 Turbo
  • Motherboard: Alienware 0XJKKD
  • Power Supply: Dell 1500W Power Supply (D1500EF-00 800GY? Take this with a grain of salt)

  • System Manufacturer: Dell/Alienware
  • Model Number: Area 51-R2
  • This is a desktop PC.

I did see the forum guidelines for posting things like these, and it did say that an HTML file of perfmon /report is to be done, however, the application is stuck on a window where is should be collecting data for 60 seconds... but never stops. It will not record anything as a result. The SysnativeFileCollectionApp.zip file is A'OK, though! I apologize if the Performance Monitor Report is an absolute necessity.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version A10) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.
FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).

Only 5 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most build 14393 (1607) systems have more than this.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available Windows Updates.
The actual number is not important.  Rather it's important that you checked manually, installed any available updates, and didn't experience any errors when checking or updating.

You have 5 hard drives.  What is the make/model/wattage and age of your Power Supply?
The point of the above question is to see if there's too much stuff drawing power on your system for the PSU to supply.

You have a relatively new 1500 watt PSU, so this is not likely.  But we can't afford to dismiss it entirely.

Riva Tuner (along with MSI Afterburner and EVGA Precision) are known to cause BSOD's in some Windows systems (it's driver is usually RTCore64.sys).  Please un-install them immediately!

If you're overclocking, please stop the overclock while we're troubleshooting.  Feel free to resume the overclock once the system has been stabilized.

If using USB audio, please try uninstalling it's programs and removing the USB audio device from your system in order to test it.

There are signs of USB audio issues in the WER section of the MSINFO32 report.

Search your system for NTIOLib_X64.sys  There are at least 4 different instances of this driver on your system - and they are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.

Some of them are located here:

These are the one's I found in the driver listing in MSINFO32:

c:\program files\alienware\command center\clockgen\cpu_frequency\ntiolib_x64.sys
c:\program files\alienware\command center\cpu\cpu_ratio\ntiolib_x64.sys
c:\program files (x86)\msi\odd monitor\ntiolib_x64.sys

These are 4 of the 5 from the memory dumps:

C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\DDR\NTIOLib_X64.sys

C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\SMBus\NTIOLib_X64.sys

C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\ClockGen\NTIOLib_X64.sys
C:\Program Files\Alienware\Command Center\CPU\NTIOLib_X64.sys

Please uninstall the programs associated with all 4 them and see if that stops the BSOD's

Also, please update the drivers in the summary below that date from BEFORE W10 was released (29 Jul 2015)
If unable to update, please post back and let us know which ones so we can advise on what further steps to take with them.

The last 2 memory dumps involve video drivers.

Please ensure that your video drivers are updated to the latest, W10 compatible version.

If the BSOD's continue after that, please start with these free hardware diagnostics:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html

Start with the video tests, but please finish ALL of the tests and let us know the results.

If ALL of the tests pass, then please run Driver Verifier according to these instructions:  http://www.carrona.org/verifier.html
