First off, I will tell you, we in this house are you called cord cutters.  We have an Antenna on the roof and Windows 10 Laptop hooked to our HD TV. it runs a fully loaded version of KODI

I am wondering, is there any device I can hook to both the Antenna wire and HDMI output of the laptop that can record the signals incoming, either both at one or independently, only one at a time.  I have already researched a TIVO device and they do not work the way I want, yet.  They cannot take a signal from the HDMI of the computer.

Now, all that being said, I do have two tower computers downstairs, one having nothing but 2 DVD drives, no PSU or motherboard.or Hard Drives.  The other tower has a PSU, Motherboard, No Hard Drive.  But the Motherboard would probably run windows XP or Linux, it is that old.  Now would I be smarter to

1) get a good motherboard for the first tower, run windows 7 on it and KODI and some kind of recording card

2) use the 2nd Tower, put Hard drive in, install Linux and go from there

3) find the options for my current setup?
