Display Crashes

So I have been having what I think/thought was a display error/crash.  It happens randomly and in a few different ways.  Sometimes, my screen will go black and give me no input for a few seconds and then will recover, but there will subsequently be no sound, and all videos play as if in slow motion until I restart my computer.  Other times, it'll completely crash and restart itself, freeze on the screen (this one usually happens while gaming) or crash with no automatic restart.  When it does recover, it never gives me any sort of error or anything to work with.

 

I've had 2 RMA's (so 3 graphics cards total) and the problem is still exactly the same, which makes me doubt it's a GPU problem anymore.  Temperatures are always fine (it'll happen while doing anything, in fact, it happened while typing this post) and I've tried more drivers than I can count.

 

Anyone have an ideas on what hardware that's causing these crashes?

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

JJ.  Welcome.  The fault you describe is not a normal fault of hardware.  It sounds like a driver that just gets out of whack.  I've seen a similar fault that and it turned out to be a patch for the AMD CPU for the video card.  One of the things that had me thinking the video cards too turned into a patch for an Nvidia card and an AMD CPU.  A different loading sequence of drivers fixed it.

I've no clue, but it appears that Mjd420nova may be headed in the right direction...it does appear to be a possible display driver problem.

 

But...what I would do is uninstall the current chipset drivers and then install the chipset driver from This Page.  I don't know the frequency of your errors but I would then run the system long enough to satisfy myself that the problem remains or has dissipated.

 

IMO, the fact that various graphics cards have been tried...does not point directly to the graphics drivers.

Is there a way to manually uninstall/install chipset drivers?  The .exe in the file I downloaded basically just installed some AMD device manager that seemed to only be looking for AMD GPU drivers, which I don't have.

Max cpu temp for your cpu is 72c and in your speccy screen shot your at 67c, and that's not even max load.

 

Something up with your cooling bro {fans dead/dirt buildup/heat sink falling off/heat sink sucks/improper mouthing of heat sink/Electromigration dammage} normally i tend to ask people to do a full load test on the cpu but in your case i wouldn't go their seeing as the heat is as high as it is all ready.

 

Mind downloading this and taking a screen shot/ post it ?
