Hi there,

I am going to teach myself with Programming Windows by Charles Petzold via a video tutorial. The tutor suggested the learners should install Visual Studio Express 2012 for Windows Desktop as he was going to demonstrate the tutorial with the software.

I have two questions and a problem about that as below.

1.Can I replace Visual Studio Express (VSE) with Visual Studio Community (VSC)?

I find the volume of VSE is around 16GB and that of VSC is just around 4GB. I am not an IT professional and not going to use it for commencial purpose.

Can Visual C++ 6.0 meet for the purpose of mine -learning Programming? I've installed VC++6.0.

2. During my instalation of VSE, a problem occured. My operation system is Windows 7 -32-bit.
Please see the attachment.

Many thanks!

PS. For #2, I intended to upload a picture as the attachment from my laptop, but it seems the forum doesn't allow. Anyone knows how to upload a picture from the laptop but not to provide with a link?

Heyo,

Visual Studio Community should do everything you need it to do!  If you install it and just create a C++ console application you shouldn't have a problem following the tutorial.
