Computer Hard Freezes (Audit Events Have Been Dropped By the Transport?)

My computer freezes up occasionally, usually 2 times a week. Forced to restart computer. 

 

The last time it froze earlier today I got, (Audit events have been dropped by the transport.  0) in my event log.

 

My computer has probably been freezing for the last 2 months or so, in this time I have performed two clean installs of windows 10 and also installed a new GPU (Nvidia 560ti to a new Nvidia 1060)

Odd, well ill say what the other guy all ways douse. update bios besides that 2 times a week isn't bad.

 

do you know what apps your running or what your doing when this happens or douse it happen too if you park the computer and do nothing on it and take a nap and when you wake up it crashed even with nothing going on.

I haven't come back to the computer and seen it frozen before. I've only recalled it freezing while playing any number of games (CS:GO, Overwatch, Half-Life, Hearthstone) or streaming video on twitch.tv. It usually crashes in the middle of a play session, although my computer did crash once immediately upon launching CS:GO. Other applications I always have open are usually google chrome, steam, discord, f.lux, 

 

As far as updating the BIOS I'll take a look into it. I'm a little concerned about messing up my system further updating it. Are there any guides you'd recommend for it? I've just started looking at this I think I'll attempt to update it tomorrow.

Decent guide you found their though i can't believe their talking about doing it from windows, anyone that updates their bios from windows is asking for it on so many levels and i think iv seen worse like live internet bios updates, people that came up with both topics should be shot.

 

For your motherboard sometimes theirs different version numbers of the same mobo "example version 1/2/3 etc" , be 100% shore to check you have the right bios for the right version.

 

In the past i would only do it from dos my self but their are bios virus around now so as far as im consed all bios should be locked out with a jumper to prevent it being possible to update anything with out changing the jumper or in the case of the motherboard bios it should only be possible to do it from the bios it self, any attempt to flash the bios from any other source should be blocked.

 

Min you can update a bios from windows or dos/command line so can virus if it wants, therefor all bios should be protected in this day and age from that kind of attack.

 

So imho only do it from dos "single task environment" or the bios it self, best is from the bios it self if its supported as well if theirs a bios protection option in their once done turn it on.

 

Remember to flash a bios if theirs a bios protection option in the bios to turn it off before you try a flash, as well once done remember to turn bios protection back on then save and exit, reset computer then power down 100% then reset bios to defalts the hard way, their should be a jumper for it somewhere or just remove the battery for a sec.

 

For other devices like video card/dvd/cd etc then dos and in the case of the mobo if theirs a problem and it doesn't 100% take or stops at the 50% mark do not turn off computer, get on a 2nd computer and get a fresh copy of the bios or whatever you need to do to flash the bios 100%, if the bios is only 50% flash then theirs a error for your mobo but your still up and running and you power the computer off you brick the board, after that the only way to fix it is to have the eeprom bios chip removed and for it to be flashed the hard way with a eeprom reprogramer.

I have not updated my BIOS yet. Currently waiting for another crash just to see if I get any different errors in Windows Event Viewer. 

 

My computer has also been showing 100% CPU utilization in task manager while my computer has been crashing. Anytime I boot up it shows 100% utilization, I can only confirm this has been happening since my last install of 10 though about a month ago. Not sure if its connected at all as I'm not actually sure if it's running at 100% or just a graphical bug.

Updating this thread on the off chance someone ever winds up here from a google search.

 

Finally updated my BIOS about a week ago and have not gotten any crashes yet. About a month ago my computer actually blue screened instead of just locking up. Got the CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT error.

 

Updated my BIOS and it appeared to fix the problem. It did break my Windows Boot Loader though, couldn't get my RAID 0 to read. Finally managed to fix that with Windows Automatic Repair on my Windows 10 Repair Disc I burned.
