ping question

hi, I am still new to networking. Could anyone tell me why I able ping the gateway ( and S1 ( middle switch) from my PC but unable to ping the switch( where my pc( is Directly connected? thanks.icon_rolleyes.gif

*all switches are in VLAN 99 and the PC on VLAN 10.

Its possible Because the switch does not have VLAN 10 setup. Make sure the interface on switch that connects to the router or the other switch is a trunk port. Without seeing the full configuration it's difficult to say for certain.
