Gentlemen, please may I seek your assistance?

I am using my television as a monitor.  The problem I am having is that there is a black border to the left and right of the screen.  I am seeking a FULL screen!

It is my understanding that to resolve matters it is something to do with the graphics card where you can adjust the resolution but I do not know how.   Can anyone please explain in step-by-step details how it is done?

Any help would be much appreciated.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE!

Right click a black space on the desktop and select Screen Resolution (Windows 7) or Display Settings then Advanced Display Settings (Windows 10)

I'd recommend finding out what resolution the television supports first.
