My pc wont register my headphones being plugged in?

Please help i just bought a new logitech z506 sound system and my pc wont sense my audio cord being plugged into the audio port. HELP PLEASE

Try headphones first to see if you audio jack is functioning.

Yes I've tried multiple different headphones

If still no sound - then you may have 2 issues:

1. broken audio jack

​2. Go to Control panel -> Sound and see of you can route the sound to the correct output device

It must be a broken audio jack because in the control panel it shows nothing is plugged in. I guess i will need a new one thanks for your help

Go to Control Panel->Sound->Playback tab, then right-click there and put checkmarks on both : Show disabled devices, Show Disconnected Devices - see if you can re-enable the existing devices that were disabled by mistake, etc.
