unable to encrypt files in Windows 7 Home premium

whenever i try to make an encrypted folder the encrypt contents to secure data option is greyed out. why is this? do i need an upgraded version of windows to encrypt folders?

Only the Ultimate and Enterprise versions of Win 7 encrypt files natively.


You will have to use a 3rd party software to do the encryption.
