Hi,

A few months ago I had an issue with my laptop not turning on. I sent it to the manufacturer and they diagnosed the issue as a faulty motherboard and replaced it. Since I received it back, I have constantly been getting BSODs, and it seems like it might be a graphics driver issue but updating to the latest driver has not helped. When I reset the computer to factory state, the BSODs actually stop, but the first time I install windows updates the crashes start again. All drivers etc are up to date.

I don't have many dmp files as I recently reset to factory state and was not seeing issues until I was forced to install windows updates, hopefully the attached is enough information.

· OS - Windows 8.1

· x64
· What was original installed OS on system? Windows 8.1
· Is the OS an OEM version (came pre-installed on system) or full retail version (YOU purchased it from retailer)? Pre-installed
· Age of system (hardware) ~15 months
· Age of OS installation - have you re-installed the OS? Yes - 2 weeks ago

· CPU
· Video Card - Intel® HD graphics 5500
· MotherBoard - (if NOT a laptop)
· Power Supply - brand & wattage (skip if laptop)

· System Manufacturer HP
· Exact model number (if laptop, check label on bottom)  HP Spectre x360 13-4009na
· Laptop or Desktop? laptop

I'm not able to save the performance monitor report as I get "administrator has refused the request" even though I'm the administrator. A report does get generated in Performance Monitor which I can view but can't save - what should I do with this?

Thanks

Is the system still under warranty?  Have you contacted HP about this?  If you're not able to install Windows Updates, then I'd have to wonder about the system.

I don't need the perfmon report, so I'd skip it for now.

Your UEFI/BIOS (version F.43) dates from 2016.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  This is just in case there has been a more recent update.
FYI - W8 and W10 communicate more with the UEFI/BIOS than previous versions of Windows, so it's important to ensure that the UEFI/BIOS is kept up to date (and that outdated UEFI/BIOS' may be the cause of some compatibility issues).

Only 157 Windows Update hotfixes installed.  Most systems have 180 or more.  Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).
Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available (and didn't experience any errors).

You may have both McAfee and Avast running on your system (if you've already uninstalled the McAfee, then ignore the rest of this paragraph :0).
Please uninstall BOTH of them and make sure that Windows Defender and the Windows Firewall are enabled while we're troubleshooting.

If you want to install a 3rd party A/V or firewall, please only install 1 of each - as they can interfere with each other and can cause serious problems with the system.

Out of 15 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)
- missing Windows Updates
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html ).

Please get a head start on the hardware diagnostics - they are located here:  http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.html
Please finish ALL of them and let us know the results
