Hello,
Have anyone experienced that WIN 10 OS on a laptop won't shut down?

I'm having a  DELL inspiron 7737 laptop and when I click on Power-Shut Down, it turns of monitor and seems to shut down but it is actually not turned off. It is still running and consumes battery. And the laptop is warm.

Do a full shutdown from the command prompt.  Press the Windows key + X. cmd as admin

Type:

shutdown -s

Disable fast startup and see if that helps.

I use to have this problem on Windows 7 but I have never had it on Windows 10.

Your Welcome,

Thanks for the update. Windows 10 has a type of hybid shutdown that uses hibernation to create a faster startup but it's the first thing I would disable. When enabled a linux rescue disk can only mount the Windows partition as read only. I avoid any type of hibernation at all cost.
