I found this today.

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1263206-REG/acer_nx_gg5aa_004_15_6_aspire_e5_575_521w_notebook.html

It seems to be a good price. However, I would like this type of machine with a CD/DVD drive and an internal hard drive of at least 1TB.

The salesman said that I could just use external drives.

I think what I want (this plus cd/dvd drive and 1TB internal hard drive along with the ssd) is going to cost a lot more than this one.

Thoughts? Advice?

Thanks.

Thanks.

I'm willing to spend more - within reason - to get what I want. Anyone know of a machine that has what I'm looking for as outlined above?

Lots of systems meet your "general specifications", IMO.

IMO...you need to be more specific in determining what you want...and why you want it...and then express that to the members who will then try to steer you to various options.

Bear in mind...optical drives are obsolete from a sales point of view...and have been replaced by faster, easier USB flash drives with much more storage capabilities. DVDs/CDs as storage media will not be considered by any OEM in their planning for future systems, IMO.

I apologize for the delayed reply.

What I hope to find is a laptop with an SSD drive and a traditional 1TB hard drive. I understand that CD drives are now becoming a thing of the past but I still would like to have one.

Any thoughts or suggestions where to look for such a thing?

Thanks.

Very few laptops come with optical drives today.  Adding an external hard drive and optical drive will increase the total cost by $75 to $100.

The machine you're looking for can be had, but the cost will be about double the one you posted as these are normally higher end machines.

Here are two Acers that appear to have both an internal SSD and an internal HDD. Thoughts?

I would look at the plethora of systems available at Amazon.com.
