Downloaded and paid for Battlefiled1. It downloaded but did not activate. Went through the steps that were given and Origin as well. Bottom line is that I have to update my gforce graphics card with latest drivers. OK tried that and basically the download did not work/load. Took the box to my local French computer guy and after going through several steps recommends that we take off windows 7 and reinstall. Of course all the other software as well. Any thoughts?

I had also had difficulties with downloading the Windows7 updates.. Needed 52 updates and after 24 hours of checking etc, got several downloaded and left me short 43 updates.

I read several of you had problems with downloads, not sure if this is in the same ballpark.

First of all - welcome to BC !  Or, if you prefer, bienvenue a BC !

1/  Updates.  These have been a total pain on Win 7 and Vista since last summer although there is some evidence that it is now working much better.  Take a look at this topic, particularly the second link given in #2 -

2/  I am not a gamer so I have no experience with Battlefield 1 but I would have thought a complete re-install would be a drastic solution if your computer is otherwise running normally. Have you any reason to believe it isn't ?  Just as a matter of routine I would do an A/V scan and a malware scan. Malwarebytes is a very good first line of defense here and is available as a free download from BC -

If neither of these scans show any problems post back, and if nobody else offers an opinion on your Battlefield problem I will see if I can get a gamer to give an opinion.

I am going to be away until about the 22nd October. Time on-line will be reduced and my internet access may be limited. PMs may not be replied to as quickly as normal !
