We have an old 2001 compaq 5020 computer. The last screen you see when you shut it down is , it is now safe to turn off your computer and then you have to shut it down manually. How can we change this to turn off automatically. We are running Windows XP.
Thanks
Bilmac

Hello bilmac1. Probably, when Windows was installed, it failed to recongize the BIOS as ACPI compatible. Or simply, APM is not enabled: check under "Power Options Properties" if the tab "APM" exists; if so, check the option "Enable Advanced Power Management Support" (if it's checked, uncheck it, weird as it sounds).
