At good friend Condobloke's Topic here, https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/592668/mental-health-stigma-overcoming-it-aussie-style/   , I and others have "outed ourselves" with regards to what is an ever-increasing pandemic, and that is ... mental illness.

For ages, I have been talking about starting up such a Topic as this one. Now, and before I break more New Year's Resolutions, I am starting it up, and I hope it will gain support?

I am starting with the US state of Illinois. Being an Australian, you might wonder whether this was a misdirected case of "A Connecticut Yankee In The Court of King Arthur" (Mark Twain).

But I visited Illinois briefly in 1989 (Chicago mostly) and like the place.

Cheers, and Season's Greetings to all, and drive safely so we can see you all in 2017.

Chris Turner

http://www.thresholds.org/about/

is a site which caught my attention, hence its mention in the Topic Title.

It says in brief

ABOUT THRESHOLDS

Established in 1959, Thresholds provides healthcare, housing, and hope for thousands of persons with mental illnesses in Illinois each year. Through care, employment, advocacy, and housing, Thresholds assists and inspires people with mental illnesses to reclaim their lives.

Thresholds is one of the oldest and largest providers of recovery services for persons with mental illnesses in Illinois. We reject the notion that anyone is a lost cause, utilizing evidence-based practices and a wide range of supports to treat the whole person, rather than just the disease.

In my next Post, I will begin to flesh out more of what Illinois can provide to those "afflicted".

It has been said that time heals all wounds. I don't agree. The wounds remain. Time - the mind, protecting its sanity - covers them with some scar tissue and the pain lessens, but it is never gone. Rose Kennedy
