No audio at all

I just got my pc setup after a reinstallment of windows 7. before the reinstall i had no problems with audio

external speakers????

 

you may be missing a driver....

 

start > right click on computer > manage > double click device manager

 

is there a yellow symbol on anything in that list?

yeah they are external speakers.

but no i don't see anything. i also clicked on properties but it says that the device (speakers) seem to be working properly

This may seem a silly question, but it's surprising how often the obvious gets overlooked. You don't have the mute switch on the volume control 'On' do you ?  Clicking on the speaker icon at the right hand end of the taskbar will show this.

nope i still have no sound at all even if it says that the device is working properly

I suggest you reinstall your audio drivers. :) Get the freshest, latest copy from your manufacturer's website, then do so. When Windows searched online for the drivers, it most likely got the wrong one.
