vista can't find sound card

i got a new laptop with vista and it broke so i got a different make same brand different drivers same company... any help speakers work whats wrong

Does sound card show up in device manager?

no not one bit, even using driver booster from iobit

i tryed a fresh install of windows and no luck, not even installing the express chipset from intel and that is soppused to control the audio controller and in device manager says in the system tree that there are system speakers are preassent... does that mean anything? please reply

It may encourage more people to perhaps reply with ideas if you gave the make and model of your laptop.

 

Have you checked Windows Audio service is started and set to automatic?

 

If you plug in some headphones do you hear sound then?

well here's the thing, if the official drivers are installed then the audio speakers and the jacks would work, and since i cant get the/any drivers to install i cant test any thing, i have a dell latitude d820 with a 250gb hdd, 2gbs RAM, and core duo, with winxp pro sp2 all activated, "sigmatel stac 92xx"/intel "realtek" ich7 hd adiuo drivers and the sigmatel is the "intel hd audio" could it be hardware, or software? PLEASE HELP!!!!! will i need a new motherboard?

Are you running Vista or XP sp2 as you mention both in this thread.

 

If it's xp, is this the audio driver you are trying to install?

What error message do you get when you try?

 

How are you trying to install it?

windows xp sp2 and it says in the bios that it uses a sigmatel 9200 driver, but when i install the .exe application { i just click on the icon} it trys to install but says device not found as in the sound card isn't there
