Hi everyone, I know that this must be an old topic but I am at a complete loss. When I boot my PC up it will not display a signal to my monitors, I'm using two that a both plugged into the gpu which is a gtx1070, however when I remove my ram(two 4 gig sticks) and switch them to the two empty ports the signal returns. If I shut down and restart the problem returns only to be fixed the same way. I've found the cmos reset on the mother board which is a GA-Z87X-UD3H but am afraid to mess about with it. I think my drivers are up to date and I've removed and refitted the gpu to make sure it was connected properly. Again I'm sorry if you have heard all this before but I'm new to forums and pc trouble shooting in general. Thanks a lot an advance.

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

I certainly will do everything that has been posted as soon as I'm home from work, one other thing that I forgot to mention is that when I have the case open I can tell when the problem is going to happen because one of the fans doesn't spin when the pc starts booting up, it's not the CPU or gpu fan it's an extra that I put in. That probably makes no difference but it's another thing I've noticed.

Windows 8 was in and I upgraded online to 10. Do you think putting the disk in and reinstalling 8 would do anything?

You have a legal install of either/both?  A valid license?

IME...moving from one version of Windows to a different version...isn't going to change anything significant that's causing problems now.

I would try a different PSU before moving on to something else.

Definitely both legal installs and I've kept the windows 8 key, I wrote it down 3 times because a friend told me if you do not then it doesn't exist(sound advice). You mentioned the psu, after looking into that online i think you might be on to something, it's worth a shot anyway. I really appreciate the response's especially around this busy time of year.
