What is the URL banner that appears under my tabs bar?

Ever since I upgraded to Sierra it has been appearing.

All it has is the URL of the site I'm visiting.

(I would have loaded a screenshot, but I can't see how to

do that in this forum!)

So annoying!

What good is it?

How do I get rid of it?

Others have answered your question on how to show a screenshot in your other thread.  So, at this point, until you post a screenshot, I will not be much help.
