Weeks ago, my computer was infected and I'm pretty sure that it still is. I've tried and googled everything that I could think of but nothing's working. When I'm using Google Chrome, I get a popup from amazonaws that says my computer is infected and I need to call a number to fix it. I'm not dumb enough to do that so I ignore it, but it's becoming more frequent. I get notifications too that say an app default was reset, but I haven't been changing defaults.  I uninstalled everything in that time period from when I first started having the problem but it's still there. I've tried finding a file with that name myself but there's nothing. I've also scanned with antivirus, malwarebytes, and adcleaner but neither of those worked. I'm totally out of ideas. Does anyone know how to get rid of this??

Have you turned the PC off and then Rebooted ? ...Does it Still happen.

If so Then try running Ccleaner from https://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download  , Download the Free Version and run the Cleaner Function only , then Select Analyze , wait for results and then Select Run Cleaner.

You can also try JRT -  https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/junkware-removal-tool/

There is also a Chrome Cleanup Tool here at Bleeping https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/chrome-cleanup-tool/

If you still then have issues ?  Wait for an expert to get you to Post some Logs to advise you further.
