For laptop, you'll want SO-DIMM. For example https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-original-204-pin-PC3L-12800-M471B1G73EB0-YK0/dp/B0173ZBC2E/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1481922326&sr=8-2 (first result from Amazon, there may be better deals available).

And put link to laptop's spec sheet or product page, thanks.

What do you use your laptop for in general? A RAM upgrade won't increase system performance beyond 8 GB unless you're doing things such as Photoshop and are working with lots of layers or RAW files.

Okay! Sorry about that. I don't know much about upgrading computer hardware, this is my first time doing it.

I have come across 4 links from HP about my exact laptop model that have descriptions, but when I click on them, they give me 404's here are the links:

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/us/en/404-missing.html

http://www8.hp.com/h20195/us/en/404-missing.html

http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/HP-ENVY-15-k100-Notebook-PC/7234894/model/7479938/drivers

Sorry. Has the Speccy info told you if I have any available ram slots? Sorry, as I said I do not know much about the hardware side of computers.

I game on it sometimes, but I don't usually play very intensive games. Mostly because I am very tab happy and sometimes I can have about 20 tabs in Firefox, and my laptop will run very slow. When I go to the task manager, it usually says that RAM usage is 100%. I know that this could probably be fixed easily with some better browsing practices, but even if I did, more RAM can't hurt, can it?

It's worth it if you're maxing out the RAM in task manager. Only reason I ask is that it won't be worth spending money on the laptop if it won't make a performance increase but it seems like it may do for you as you open a lot of tabs in Firefox.

THIS LINK gives all standard specs for your Notepad..

They say there is a spare slot for more RAM, but 8 gig looks big enough  to me for a "Notepad".

For me, it says:

Error 404: There is no content available.

Thanks for your help, though!

Hmm. Everything else works perfectly, even other HP links. I viewed it in Chrome, and it works. I have heard of some websites doing this before, (some VERY antiquated sites only work in Internet Explorer.) but it's never happened to me. Anyway, thanks! I will now read the article.

On the page, in the RAM Section, it says:

8GB DDR3L SDRAM (1 DIMM)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DIMM

DIMM is the open slot for RAM, right? So if there is only one DIMM, that means that there can only be one RAM stick in motherboard. Perhaps I have misunderstood. Thanks for the help anyway!

All links were done with Firefox. Nothing with I.E. 11

B.C. forum,  is automatically opened with F/fox from my desktop and my search is Google.

Post the full SPECCY link that you are given like http://speccy.piriform.com/results/XD1JDqyWpOcACUJ8tG2fE

I altered the one above

I know, I was just saying that I heard of some sites only working in Internet Explorer, and this was similar, just with Chrome instead. But if it works for you then that is very strange. Anyway, I have viewed the link now, so it doesn't matter.

Thanks!

What do you mean by Speccy link? Is there an option to upload your results to a webpage? How do I do that?
