Hello.

A few months ago the sd-steam.info/zodiac-game.info russian ad page started opening by itself whenever I booted up my computer.

I ran a couple of free Antivirus applications without success at first, then tried malwarebytes. The latter was able to detect and remove a registry file causing the issue but hours later, a CMD box appears for a split second and the problem returned. Manually deleting the entry is just as ineffective.

Please help me with this issue, it's very annoying to have that page come up constantly, not to mention the background CMD box that occasionally pops up and makes me paranoid.

P.S.

microsoft photo gallery is opening in another language. Already checked settings
Can this be the cause of your language problem?

Windows Live Essentials programs all share a single language setting, so if you switch the language for one of them, you switch it for all of them. Please follow the steps in this article to change the language:

Hello Nasdaq and thank you for the quick response.

I turned on system restore as instructed, I have no idea why it was off, I never touched those settings.

I followed all the instructions you posted and the problem hasn't shown itself since. It seems to have worked! Thank you so much.

As requested, the Fixlog text file is attached to this reply.

As for the Windows Live Essentials, and the language issue, I never actually noticed any problem but perhaps that's due to the fact I don't make much use of those applications. I will look into it when I have some time.

I will report back in a couple of days to make sure the problem is not coming back.

Thank you once again Nasdaq, with kind regards.
