I don't understand this, i'm an admin myself and i've had this problem for YEARS on ALL my PC's...doesn't matter the version either.

Whenever I install a fresh version of windows , fully protected and everything...Windows will start auto-updating properly....and install the windows updates like it's suppose for for like a month or so.  But then the auto-update feature stops working for no reason.  IN FACT, it'll even say "last checked today" , when it wasn't actually checked today.  Since when I manually check , that's the only time the updates update correctly.  Many times I have to reboot, just for the updates to work correctly like this.  WHY has this been like this for years for me , and with different PC's , different versions of windows (Windows 7 , Windows 8 , Windows 10)  , and everything ?

I almost can't believe it .  Why can't windows work the way it's suppose to ?  am I targetted for hack 24/7 or something ?   why else would all my PC's never auto-update like their suppose to?   Like i said, they start auto-updating initially...but once I have my PC on for too long...like a month or so...auto-update stops working for no reason...even though i've got virus / ,malware protection and all.  I never visit shady websites or anything either , seems like my PC is just attacked / doesn't work properly if it's on for too long.

If this is popular amongst everybody , then I can't understand why Microsoft is so silent about the issue.  Why can't they keep our PC's safe ?

any help is much appreciated.

I would suggest posting over in the Windows forum that applies to your OS.

I have seen problems with updates in W7 for a long time - and occasionally w/W8

Most problems with W10 are easily fixed (in my experience).

Make sure to put "windows Update" in the title of the post so that the WU experts will see it.

FYI - here's a link to a good W7 update fixit page (thanks to CKing123!):  http://wu.krelay.de/en/

My browser caused a flood of traffic, sio my IP address was banned. Hope to fix it soon. Will get back to posting as soon as Im able.

i'm still having this same exact friggin problem.

is there another piece of hardware , besides a router , that I could get...that is additional security , so that I can look more into the hundreds of IP's that are trying to attack my IP and network itself ?

most routers don't IP track on a live basis... i want something like that, that can see everything in real time.

The last I looked for something like this (several years ago), I found that you'd be looking for commercial grade routers costing way more that the routers that you find in the big box stores.

I'd post over in the Networking forums for more expert advice:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/21/networking/
