My first post here.

The only recommendation from my ISP  for anti virus protection is for Norton and Bitdefender-- both

with a price tag.  Many of the AV progs like Comodo and Avast ,  AVG as,   well have screen business

blinking on and off and give continual distractions.

Currently I'm using Malwarebytes Anti- Exploit because it's 'quiet' and doesn't have to  be upgraded every other day.

Anything out there specifically for Thunderbird?

Many anti-virus programs do not scan incoming email but they do scan email attachments (which is where the malware would be hidden) if real-time protection is enabled in order to prevent you from opening one that is malicious....meaning the anti-virus is always on guard to scan and protect the system, stopping malware distribution at the source.
