Hi gang, thanks to you guys I managed to get a few things fixed on a buddies computer, now I need help with mine. I bought a new wireless router yesterday ( Trendnet ) and hooked up 3 PC's. Today, I tried to run Limewire, and nothing happens past the first splash screen. I've double and triple checked my Java version is up to date, I've un-installed and re-installed both Java and Limewire, and I keep getting the same error log, as below :

I have no idea where to go from here. I've read post after post, tried everything except making changes to the registry, which I'm hesitant to do unless absolutely necessary. Any ideas what to try next ? Thanks for anything you can offer.

The only thing I can think of is that the router has to be configured to allow Limeware and Java through. How you would do this I don't know as I don't have a router. I feel it necessary to point out, however, that downloads with Limeware frequently land you with malware.

Hey there shyguysam, welcome to BleepingComputer,
Sorry for the delay in the reply,

You may need to open a port from the router, it may be blocking access as Orange said. If the router has a firewall built in you might have to disable it, or make an exception for the program. My advice would be to follow the walk through at the following link:
http://www.portforward.com/english/applica.../Limewindex.htm

You will have to choose the model/type of router that you are using and you will recieve specific instructions to open the Limewire port. If that still doesn't work you might have to look at other possible problems, for example a firewall - Do you have one installed?

Here is a link about configuring firewalls for Limewire:
http://www.limewire.com/english/content/firewalls.shtml

I must also echo Orange's advice about the dangers of P2P. Have a look here:
http://p2p.malwareremoval.com/

Thank you all for your replies, but my issue is not so much getting through the firewall or router, since Limewire works on both of the other computers in the house ( yes, 3 PC's, go figure ) but more it doesn't even start up. I get a splash screen saying it's loading resources, interface, launching window, then just dissappears. Every time I try to load it, I get an error file like the one posted above. I've got about 20 of them so far. I'm almost positive it's specific to Java, since most of the searches I've done on the error point to Java. I was hoping someone would recognize the error file and know what to do. Worst case, I'll un-install and re-install the router software see if that works, since this only began when I installed the router software. If anyone else has any suggestions, please pass them along.

I agree that this problem most likely lies with java.
You are using an out of date version (jre1.5.0_03)
I recommend you update your Java software.

Click on start, then control panel, and then double-click on add/remove programs.
Search in the list for all older installed versions of Java. (J2SE Runtime Environment.... )
It should have next icon next to it: Posted Image
Highlight each and click Remove.
Then Download and install the newest version from here:

Reboot and let me know if Limewire works now.

It is eerily similar to the previous one, except now has JSP 1.5.0_06 instead of 03. I've un-installed the router software, but couldn't connect to the internet to see if Limewire would work. I've verified the firmware to be up to date, the Java is up to date, I have the latest Limewire Pro version, and I've done complete anti-virus and triple scans of Ad-Aware and Spybot to ensure that's clean, so I'm at a loss as to what to do next. Again, my apologies for taking so long, but this appears to be the last of all my issues with this computer. Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
