Not long ago, I switched isp's from earthlink to peoplepc. I downloaded the peoplepc software. made sure everything worked okay, then uninstalled earthlink. Everything worked fine until I uninstalled earthlink. Peoplepc would dial up and connect, but all i would get is This Page Cannot Be displayed pages. I tried uninstalling peoplepc and reinstalling it, but the same thng happened. peoplepc was no help. They just keep telling me to reinstall, which I have already done 3 times. Why does peoplepc need earthlink to display web pages? How can I get rid of earthlink, and get peoplepc to work?
I have Win XP, use IE as a browser, and have a dialup connection.

have you made sure that you didn't delete any IE files?

Also have you done a virus scan lately?

I do virus scans regularly. I uninstalled all the earthlink files from add/remove programs. But after doing this, no pages will come up even though my peoplepc software is still there. I can dial up and connect, but no pages. When I reinstall earthlink, peoplepc will display pages again.

Check in ALL of your security programs to make sure that Peoplepc is the default ISP. Especially the firewall.

I checked in my firewall and it has peoplepc checked and also Local Area Connection. Then under Exceptions it has something checked calledEarthlink UHP Modem Support. Would this be causing any problem?
I couldn't find anything in antivirus program about earthlink or peoplepc, but maybe I'm not looking in the right place.
