Hi!

A year ago I switched from Chrome to FF, and since then I keep getting more and more "Not responding" while surfing. recently, I have tried to use AVG's PC optimizing tool, and things went better, but now it's the same s***t all over again. Also, I ran a virus scan ( I use both MS Security Essentials and Malwarebytes Anti Malware), and no change; actually, it is getting worse.

I have had the same problem with all the PC's I previously owned, which after a couple of years looked like they have "blank" times, when the LED shows me that it is working at full capacity and keeps bleeping (without making sounds) but the PC seems to be stuck. Even the God damn Solitaire starts giving me a hard time when it runs, and seems to slow other programs...

I know that my PC isn't the best in the market, but what can I do? I have an original W7 license and MS Essentials, so the security is decent. Plus, I have 6 GB of HDD space free out of 30 GB on the Windows partition.

Thanks in advance for your help

PS: If this helps, on the many times my browser is not responding, I get a message telling me that "the plugin doesn't answer".

If Firefox is the only issue...

Reset Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems

If the above didn't help...

Uninstall Firefox completely using this manual: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/uninstall-firefox-from-your-computer
NOTE. Use MozBackup: http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/ to backup your bookmarks and passwords. Do NOT backup anything else.
Install fresh copy.

Looking at your errors reflected by MTB...might be worthwhile to look at THIS.

Can we look at some system data via Speccy?

Please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course):

post-33068-0-86653600-1480692866_thumb.j

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot.

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the ADD REPLY or REPLY TO THIS TOPIC button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

There is no need to quote this post when posting URL...the topic is easy enough to follow without quotes for everything stated.

@broni: thank you (again) so much for you fast reply.

In regards to the link to the Intel website --- I don't have a clue what that is about. I'm an amateur that uses computers for basic things and I'm not very familiar with "professional" terms. Could you please explain what I have to do? Thanks.

I don't try to interpret links...but the link is offered as one providing information on errors reflected on your system.  I don't know much about Intel but I do respect their documentation of situations that are deemed to warrant corrective actions.  The material presented at that website seems pretty understandable to me and I cannot make it more understandable than the presentation at the Intel site.

Hi

Sorry for sounding a bit demanding on my last post, but I'm just an amateur PC user. Since this is about Intel's AMT, and since I'm only using my PC for myself (not in a network), I consider disabling this feature. Could you pleae tell me if the steps from here are correct? I'm asking because whenever I do smthg on my PC, things usually end up bad, while you seem to be good at it :)

The last thing I want to ask: if I disable AMT, will the errors dissapear? Is there anything else I can do to fix them?

Thanks in advance for all your help.

I don't know anything about AMT...never heard of it until I started reviewing your posted errors.

I can't do anymore than what I have in regard to your errors citing AMT.  I can't and won't assure you of anything about matters with which I have no familiarity at all.

Hi,  you should check your hard disk is in functioning well as it could be a factor for your pc to be slow .. Perhaps it has physical failures and it may be time for replacing it for a new one. in order to check the health status try installing Crystal Disk Info. Run it on your pc and It will show you a report saying if your Hard disk is Good or Bad.

Let us know the result of the report.

(I apologise for my weak and bad english :) )

Good luck.

FWIW:

Max temp for your CPU is 60.4 Celsius, while average temp seems to be 52 Celsius.

System has 1GB RAM installed.  Peak memory usage for Firefox is 60% of total RAM installed.

If Firefox is the only real slow program, be advised that it builds up a huge amount of cache files; my highest total hit 18,000+- files.  I began using ccleaner to clean out only the cache files, no other files, and FF appeared to be working better and faster.

I have had the same problem with all the PC's I previously owned

So this is a chronic problem; I assume that you also had this problem running other browsers, not just FF?  If so, I suggest examining your modem/router. The problem may not be with the computer. It would be very strange that the identical problem appeared on several computers running different browsers going back in time.
