Hello Everyone,

I'm not sure if this is where i need to open a topic, if not PLEASE let me Know.

Sometimes on my Dell Inspiron N5010 i3 LAPTOP when i'm typing other letters than the ones i typed are displayed, it's very hard to get any of the Browsers to open to get on the web.  Different people have had different oppions as to what to do with these problems. I HAVE different scans that i can paste online for whomever decides to try & help me solve the mysteries of my laptops.  Just tell what you want first etc.

I will do as instructed & get back to you asap, but i have bad case Tendonitis in my right arm/hand so be patient with me.  I look forward to meeting/working with whomever wants to tackle the problems.  And THANKS to those who did take a look.  I Appreciate any & ALL Help!!!!  Looking forward to hearing from you!!!!

"...when i'm typing other letters than the ones i typed are displayed..."

Have you already tried a usb keyboard -- to rule in or rule out the motherboard's keyboard/mouse circuitry being the problem?

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.

Checkmark the following checkboxes:
List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
List Users, Partitions and Memory size.

Click Go and paste the content into your next post.

Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.

Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course): p22004369.gif

Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot. You will see the following prompt:

p22004371.gif

Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

p22004372.gif

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the p22004370.gif button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Please uninstall Microsoft Security Essentials.  Having two AVs installed at the same time is known to cause system problems.

You also have McAfee Validation Trust Protection Service running...but you have no McAfee products installed.  You also have a McAfee item on your scheduled tasks.  I suggest you remove the scheduled task item and disable the service.  The tool below may be useful in removing the service.

McAfee Removal Tool

After those things are done...I suggest running a chkdsk /r on your Windows partition.

I TRIED TODAY BEFORE To leave for the Dr. appt, it kept saying i denied dont have sufficient priveleges.
That i had to invoke this utility running in elevated mode. So kept repeating the process til it let me run it but i was not here when it finished & so just now tried again & get the same spill about envoking at a higher mode.
So i don't know what to do. My screen has wiggly lines across page, can't access browsers not acting right. What do i do

HI LUIS,

I am sending this message using my acer Aspire 5920 that i have got to work on after we get my Dell Inspiron N5010 fixed.
Since i ran the command prompt yesterday, i had to leave to go back to Dr. & i didnt see what it said when it finished running.
Will it save a copy of a like report i can find on the computer????
After it ran yesterday, it had these squiggly lines across screens that werent straight, & now i can't type on it cause it does like
my Acer Aspire 5920, to use it i have to open up wordpad, type what i need, then copy & paste it in & hit enter to use it now so i dont
know what running Mini Tool & the command prompt caused this to happen, but things appear to be getting worse.
What's the next thing to do???? Awaiting your response.
THANKS,
CandyGirl1959 :cowgirl: :cowgirl: :cowgirl: :santa: :santa: :santa:

Hello Luis i ran the chkdsk scan, but again i stepped away to remove the tea kettle in the kitchen & when i came back it was completed, i don't see where it left a report at, do you know?  Also, i'm now able to type directly to you, but could'nt before after it ran the chkdsk the first time.  So now i've run it a second time to try & see what the results were, but missed it. Is that important & was a report filed on my computer somewhere?

Talk soon,

I don't ever look at the chkdsk /r results...IMO, it either works on some things, or it cannot overcome some situations.

To be honest...it sounds to me as if your systems need a hands-on look by someone with more experience with computers than you seem to have.  I don't think that whatever is wrong will be overcome by online suggestions/comments.

Hi Luis,

Should i seek a second opinion?  After i ran the CHKDSK the 2nd time it evidently stopped what was causing me not to be able to type as usually would/do. So that does not seem to be a problem.  The continuing problem is getting the browsers to open even after i

delete the cookies/junk. Plus i'm supposed to have the highest internet speed but it does not move fast, wouldn't an virus or something else cause me to have these problems?  I am not ready to quit on this laptop & at this time of year i'm scratching by to get

my grandkids & kids something for Christmas.  I'm disabled & on SSD so i don't have the money.  But if you are tired of working on this just say so & i'll understand.  Have a Merry Christmas!

Thanks,

CandyGirl1959 :cowgirl: :cowgirl: :cowgirl: :santa: :santa: :santa:

It's a not a matter of being tired...it's a simple, honest statement.

I try not to grasp at straws when putting forth comments.  I don't think that every malfunction that a system undergoes...can be honestly guessed to be malware...or hardware...or Windows.  I try to get enough data to see if it's a Windows problem...in which case, this is the right forum for it.  If I can determine that it's not a Windows problem...I say so and try to move it to a forum where the requisite knowledge may exist to resolve it.

Routine system problems can often be solved online.  Complex system problems...may periodically be solved online.

The data which I requested and which ou provided...don't direct to make any statements other than those I have already made.

Your topic is still open and others know that the forums are open...anyone can provide input to a topic at any time.  Whether those inputs are valuable or not...that's a judgment ultimately made by the OP.

Feel free to await inputs from others :).

Louis
