Hi, again:

You ask a seemingly simple question with many, not-entirely-simple answers.... :)

The specific answers depend (among others) on: your version of Windows (or other OS on other devices), your browser (Firefox, IE, Edge, Chrome or other) and whether or not you use an email client (such as Outlook, Thunderbird, MailBird, etc.) to collect/handle your gmail messages .

Here are a few options, just for starters:

How do I get Gmail notifications on my desktop?
Turn desktop notifications on or off
  • Open Gmail.
  • In the top-right corner, click the gear icon .
  • Select Settings.
  • Scroll down to the Desktop Notifications section (stay in the "General" tab).
  • Choose one of the options: ...
  • Click Save Changes at the bottom of the page.

Others will have additional suggestions, I'm sure.

What you choose depends on the factors mentioned, as well as how you "use" your gmail.

Cheers,

MM

OK now I have your post on my regular brower. Again how do I set it for noticications because it doesn't seem to work for me and I know I'm doing something wrong because this is all new to me.

Are you asking for someone to repeat themselves on a written forum? Why not just scroll up? Or are you asking for clarification? If so, on what? What particular part are you having problems with? Can you give some input on your setup?

Hi:

For the record, a parallel discussion is happening here:

http://www.tenforums.com/browsers-email/70843-gmail.html

I actually asked @lostsoul65 there to stick with one venue or the other for now, to help reduce confusion a bit.

Cheers,

MM
