This is my first shot using Dual Monitors, but I have 1 connected VGA and the other DVI. Both monitors turned on as expected, with the main monitor showing the taskbar/desktop icons and the other Monitor showing just the background with no icons.

I can move my mouse across displays. I can copy and paste a file from my main desktop to the secondary, but when I click to open the file it opens on the main monitor.

My goal here is to be able to view one program on the main monitor while using another on the secondary.

Any assistance on accomplishing this is appreciated!

Hey, lexiferr!

You should be able to just click and drag the bar at the top of the window with your file to the secondary monitor, and then open something else on your primary monitor.

As Sasschary has said, I agree that you must drag one window to a different monitor. Sometimes if you close a window on a specific monitor, when you open it next time, it will open on that monitor you closed it on. Any other questions? :)
