I've been trying to install a new game for three days and have no idea what else I can do. The installation goes through all the motions until the very end, then I receive an error. It says 'The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running in safe mode, or if Windows Installer is not correctly installed. Contact your support personnel for assistance.' I've googled & tried most of the fixes that were available, but none have helped. On one try, I left the task manager open. I noticed that while trying to install, two other msiexec.exe processes run. I don't know if that's usual? But the process itself is running.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much.

Hi Kalypsonite,

Could you please give more information,

What game is it?

What Operating System are you using? (ie: Windows 7 SP1 or Windows 10 etc)

And some of your PC Specs may also be helpful in answering your question ie;

RAM

CPU

Video card..

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit (6.1, Build 7601)
RAM: 6144MB
Processor: Intel Core i3-2310M CPU @ 2.10 GHz
Video Card: Intel HD Graphics Family 1760 MB
Display: 1600x900 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Direct X Version: 11.
I'm trying to install Fallout 4.

If you need anything else, let me know.

Like I said in my original post, the install goes smoothly up until the very end when it should put the icon on the desktop and finalize the install. Then I get the error message every time.

Sorry for the double post, but it's a Gateway NV77H Laptop. Don't know if that helps any?

I still can't figure out what's causing this error.
I can include screenshots if that would help.
