Laptop is ASUS running Win10. In settings the second monitor is recognized but when I select Extend the display, select the laptop as main monitor, Apply, Save and restart the computer, the second monitor only shows the screensaver and I can't move the mouse to that screen. Retried several times. Thanks for any assistance.

Good chance the monitor thinks it is on the other side.  If you move the mouse to the other side does it go to the monitor?

If so, open the screen resolution and drag the monitor over to the other side and apply.
