I have an older Dell Laptop and lately I have been getting a weird almost psychedelic  colors and lines when I first start my computer. I started just leaving something playing on the screen at all times and it seemed to remedy the problem for a while but now leaving something playing at all times isn't working either. Help please?

What version of Windows are you using?

One of the first things that comes to mind is that the graphics driver needs to be replaced.  To confirm this boot into Safe Mode to see if the weird colors still appear.

Safe Mode uses a limited number of drivers and applications.  It does not use the graphics driver provided by the manufacturer of your type of graphics, it uses a native Windows driver.  If the problem doesn't continue in safe mode this is a good indication that this problem is driver related.

Before you do this, please provide us with a Speccy Snapshot.

Please download and install Speccy to provide us with information about your computer.  Clicking on this link will automatically initiate the download.
The one piece of information the Speccy will not provide is the make and model of your PSU.  If you know what it is please post this along with the Speccy link which will be generated.
When Speccy opens you will see a screen similar to the one below.
Click on File which is outlined in red in the screen above, and then click on Publish Snapshot.
The following screen will appear, click on Yes.
The following screen will appear, click on Copy to Clipboard.
In your next post right click inside the Reply to Topic box, then click on Paste.  This will load a link to the Speccy log.
