For the last few weeks, my computer has been acting up by slowly turning white randomly. I soon found that when it started to turn white, I could move the hinge or shake the computer gently, and it would start working again. Now, I can't move my computer and mess with the hinge, or else it will freeze, but will unfreeze when I move it again. For example, it did it three times while just typing this.

What's causing this and how do I stop it?

It sounds like a problem with the wiring that goes through the hinges - but I'm not real knowledgeable about those things.
Try posting over in the Internal Hardware forums for some more expert advice:    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/f/7/internal-hardware/
