I had an LCD monitor that started developing a brownish discoloration at a corner, and I'm not sure if it was the pixels or backlighting. Then, over the course of a few weeks, the discoloration slowly spread and the monitor would make strange static noises while making a slight flicker. Finally, one day the monitor completely blacked out. I tried external solutions such as swapping cords and plugging it into the other DVI slot to no avail, so it's definitely an internal part failure. Currently running on a different LCD monitor as I type this.
What are my options in terms of repair? I'm relatively tech savvy so I would be willing to DIY a fix(backlight replacement or backlight inverter perhaps?). If not, about how much would it cost to get this fixed?
If it helps, the monitor was an Alienware AW2310, and I've never heard of any fail like mine.
