I am in the market for a laptop for my daughter. Mainly to be used for her school work and secondary use would be the internet. I want a good laptop with cd drive in it.
Thanks.

Fill this out first. I filled in some for you.

Laptop or Desktop? Laptop

My budget for the new computer is:

What are the primary uses for this computer (IE: mail, web browsing, programming, games, etc)? School, Internet browsing

What software do you intend on using on the computer?

Do you play games? If so, what type of games?

Do you tend to have a lot of programs running at the same time, or do you close every program when you are done using it?

Do you store a lot of pictures or music on the computer?

Will you be overclocking?

Location for online shopping/shipment/prices?

How many monitors are you planning to use?

Do you need peripherals? OS?

Any particular reason why you are upgrading?

GIOVANNI: it will be a laptop. No budget is set yet. Primary uses are school and internet
Software: anti virus anti malware office suite and windows
Games: my daughter has games on cd she wants to play
Close programs when done using them.
Music and pictures: that would be up to my daughter how much she wants to store
Peripheral: cd drive.
Operating system: windows
Getting computer because she wants her own laptop.
Thanks.

I'd recommend against limiting yourself to computers with an optical drive.  If an optical drive is needed you can purchase an inexpensive USB drive for when it is needed.  Budget will be a big part of the suggestions.

Good point Kilroy. An optical (dvd) drive will only add more weight and cost. Discs just aren't used much anymore.

What do you want a CD drive Bull? Is there a specific reason?
