I'm trying to install Win 7 on a

HP Pavilion X2 10 inch detachable.

I created a boot usb using Rufus.and turned off secure boot.

When 7 tries to install I get a red line across the top of the screen and the comp freezes.

Any help appreciated.

Did you change the boot order to allow the USB device to be the first device in the boot order and hdd/ssd the second device?

Was there a problem with the graphics before you attempted the installation?

Thanks for reply.

Yep boot order changed that's how I got to the red line problem. It tries to boot into Win 7 install and the line appears and it freezes.

No problems with the graphics previously .

I'm thinking maybe it's too modern for an old O/S like 7. Always open to suggestions  though.

Download and run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.  This will tell you if there are any problems installing Windows 7 on this computer.
