Does anyone have a fix for this that does not involve downloading and installing .msu file - these files result in the same error.

I have tried SFC.

I have tried fiddling around with BITS and WindowsUpdate in services.msc

I have tried adding exceptions in windows firewall for the various windows update related exe files in system32

I have tried expanding msu files and installing the updates via pkgmgr, including the post Service pack 1 rollup msu.

Nothing works!

I think Opera (above) may have the BEST SOLUTION EVER for this problem!!!  I've tried a number of other "solutions", including some KB stand-alone fixes, including Windows6.1-KB3168965-x64.msu, but to NO noticeable improvement at all.  This solution above (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3200747) takes me around 10 minutes or so to do, requiring a couple reboots, but seems to WORK.  I thank you VERY MUCH.

I tried stopping the windows update services in services.msc and then ran the above msu file and they at least installed properly.
