I recently downloaded some rooting software that did not work. I deleted the files, but now have this program running in the background.I cannot seem to find it or get rid of it. I've run AVG scans and Malware Bytes that find nothing. I would like to do a deep search and clean.Suggestions? One site directed me to SpeedyPC, but I read some shifty things.

adb.exe is the Android Debugger console application... if that file is legit, its not an virus!

Thank you for the reply. I know what it is and I'm sure I know where it came from, but why does it remain, and why is it running after I uninstalled the software? Also, I do not like the fact that I cannot find it.  The question still remains what is the best way to run a deep scan?

Depthcharge, try running this command in Command Prompt (as admin) and see if adb.exe is still running:

taskkill /im adb.exe /f /t

You should be able to uninstall the abd.exe in the Control Panel under Programs and Features.

Adb.exe is located in a subfolder of C:\Program Files.

The file path would be C:\Programs Files\MyPhoneExplorer\DLL\adb.exe

Actually, adb.exe is officially packaged with Android SDK.

Most of the programs/scripts include adb.exe with them to interact with android. Also, if you pay close attention to this:

I recently downloaded some rooting software that did not work.

That's the source of adb.exe in this case :)

Thanks for the replies. I can kill it, but it comes back. I still cannot find it. I do not have MyPhoneExplorer. How can I find it and remove it? Mod?
