Hi all,

I have posted this in the internal hardware section but someone suggested that I post this here too for a better response.

I ran into a peculiar problem with my Windows 7 Desktop. Whenever I am using my phone's internet on my PC via tethering (not when browsing the phone's SD card), my softwares hang and crash. Or if I try starting the software once I am connected to the net, the software wont start till the USB is plugged out. Software starts as soon as the usb is disconnected.

Searched the net for solutions but it seems that there is more than one reason why this happens and hence different specific solutions. Don't know which one should I try. Like removing the yellow marked 'Android' device in device manager dint work.

Downloading the latest android drivers from the phone manufacturer's website dint work. Get the 'device not installed properly..' bubble notification.  Someone suggested downloading the Android SDK Kit and installing some drivers from it. What got downloaded was a .exe that doesn't open even with 'run as admin'

The motherboard is a Asus H-97 Pro with both USB 2.0 and 3.0 at the rear. But I use the USB in the front of the cabinet.

Any suggestions?

Would appreciate any help. Thanks

may I ask what software's specifically you are experiencing this with?

could you post the results of ipconfig /all via a command prompt for review?

It would appear your tethering is your only connection to the internet.

So it is only when you have internet connection via tethering these local not internet based softwares hang?

Yes tethering is my only connection for now. Haven't checked if the softwares crash with ethernet or wi-fi. Don't have an ethernet connection or a wi-fi router. So not possible to find out if this is happening only with a tethered connection.

I guess it would be easy to narrow down on a solution if I can narrow that down. But since its not an option for now, any other troubleshooting that can be tried?

Thank you for your replies!
