Hi, I have been working with nazdaq for almost a week, he suggested I come here. He said I should say this:

 

 

                         "Tell the helper that after you(I) executed Avast Boot-time scan. That after the restart of the computer you (I) got this error message":

 

       "Windows 7

        Build 7601

        This copy of windows is not genuine."

 

nasdaq was helping me with some security and other computer related issues. It seemed as though (almost) from the beginning, my computer would not respond the way it should, I guess. We didn't even get to the point of tackling those concerns. I would be so grateful if I could get help with my computer. By the way, as I told nazdaq, I bought my laptop new from Best Buy.   Could someone please help?

  When I turn my machine on it boots up then goes to my login windows page. I am able to sign in & then come to my desktop. Is this what you need?

Please download MiniToolBox  , save it to your desktop and run it.
 
Checkmark the following checkboxes:
  List last 10 Event Viewer log
  List Installed Programs
  List Users, Partitions and Memory size.
 
Click Go and paste the content into your next post.
 
Also...please Publish a Snapshot using Speccy taking care to post the link of the snapshot in your next post.

   Go to Piriform's website, and download the free version on the left.  Click Download from Piriform.com (the FileHippo link requires an extra click). Or if you want to use a portable version of Speccy (which doesn't require installation), click the builds page link and download the portable version. You will now be asked where you want to save the file. The best place to put it is the Desktop, as it will be easy to find later.

    After the file finishes downloading, you are ready to run Speccy. If you downloaded the installer, simply double-click on it and follow the prompts until installation is complete. If you downloaded the portable version, you will need to unzip it before use. Right-click the ZIP file and click Extract all. Click Next. Open up the extracted folder and double-click on Speccy.
 
     Once inside Speccy, it will look similar to this (with your computer's specifications, of course): p22004369.gif

     Now, at the top, click File > Publish Snapshot. You will see the following prompt:

     Click Yes > then Copy to Clipboard

Now, once you are back in the forum topic you are posting in, click the p22004370.gif button. Right-click in the empty space of the Reply box and click Paste. Then, click Add Reply below the Reply box.

Someone or something is preventing me from responding to your latest post. When I try to send my reponse, I get Error 522. I've been trying various ways to communicate - a different browser, browser reset, killing some process monitor items, but I don't know enough to know exactly which ones. I am so frustrated I could cry. I will try another laptop but I that person has access to that machine as well.

 

I tried multiple things to get this working again- the same thing happens in another browser. I'll keep trying . . .

Hi hamluis,

 

I was able to download speccy,  I clicked 'copy to clipboard' but I'm not getting the paste option here I got two different things 

 

1 -  my browser "Frame Info about:config" window   appeared -  then when I continue to try to paste to clipboard, item 2 occurred multiple times

 

2 -  the "Save page as" drop down would open

 

 

I don't know why I'm not getting the paste option.  I already had speccy installed prior to today but installed again thinking this would be a fresh install, could that be the problem? I'll keep trying.

OK...first thing I suggest...run the chkdsk /r command.

 

When that completes...run the sfc /scannow command..

 

Then tell us if there is any imrpovement or unusual errors.

For the best results you should let the scans run without using the computer for anything else.  Make sure you have the time to allow the scans to complete.  If you stop a scan, especially the sfc /scannow, it can damage files.

 

After you have run sfc /scannow please do the following.

 

If integrity issues are found in the scan please post the CBS log using the instructions below.

Click on the Start orb rsz_1rsz_1rsz_start_orb_zpshjewtibd.png then type cmd in the Search box.

CMD will appear above the search box, right click on it and select Run as administrator.

When the Elevated Command Prompt opens copy and paste the command below, then press Enter.

copy %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log "%userprofile%\Desktop\cbs.txt"

This will place a new icon on the desktop titled CBS.  Double click on this icon to open
the CBS log, copy and paste the log in your topic.

This log usually is very large, for this reason you should use a host website like Dropbox to post the log.  You can start a free 30 day trial.  Once you have loaded the log at Dropbox post a link to the website.

 

After completing the chkdsk /r please do the following.

 

When the scan is finished please download and run ListChkdskResult.

This will open Notepad with the results of the chkdsk scan.  Please copy and then paste this log in your topic.

Is Windows activated?

 

To see if it is open the Start Menu and right click on Computer and select Properties.

 

Windows Activation is the last item on the page.  It should indicate if the operating system is activated or not.

Thank you for helping me. Windows is activated. I will close everything. I have time to run these processes. This is what I will do:

 

run  chkdsk /r

 

run  sfc /scannow

 

I don't have Dropbox or know how to get it or use it. If I have to enter personal info and a credit card number, I can't do that. Is there another option?
