In win10 I was able to upen I.E. or the EDGE brouwser as I wanted.  Now, I.E. only opens through the EDGE brouwser.  Virus scans picked up zilch.  Any suggestions?

What do you mean by, "Now, IE only opens through the Edge Browser?"   IE and Edge are both browsers.  What opens when you click a link, say in an e-mail message, will be determined by what you have set as your default web browser in Settings -> System -> Default Apps Pane, Web browser item.  Barring registry hacks, if you're using Cortana, she will always open any web query in Edge and using the Bing search engine.
