HDMI is not working.

I have Acer desktop with HDMI output on it and when I connect it up to my monitor I get no output on the screen,it works just fine with VGA cable to VGA input but wont change over.Any clues?

Have you been turning your computer on with the HDMI already connected (& the monitor turned on)? (my last PC would not connect to HDMI if you connected it or turned the display on after the computer was booted)

There's a lot of handshaking going on with the HDMI ports and often the PC won't recognize the HDMI display unless it is "sensed" during boot up and the display is also powered on before booting to PC.  Each display mfgr has their own protocols and the start up may differ from unit to unit.
